Vol. 2 No. 2

Dear Emma
Dear Emma,
I’m having trouble with my father. You see, he lives in Lancaster and it is hard to get in touch with him. During the summer, I spend one week with him. But, he has a girlfriend. So he was mostly spending time with her than me. He looks happy with her, but I wouldn’t mind if he spent time with me too. What should I do? If I talk to him about it, what do I say? Thank you for taking your time to read this, please write back as soon as possible.
Your friend,
Who Needs Advise
Dear Needs Advise,
You should tell this to someone you trust; your mother, or your older sister. It is always good to have someone to go to. Do not keep things locked inside, because one day it will all come out. So keep your mind open to telling him how you feel. Even though it might feel weird to interact or share your feelings with someone you don’t think cares about you, do not hold back. You never know, you might get closer.
Yours Truly,
Emma
Dear Emma,
I have a problem with getting my homework done because I have band, flag football, and I am in the musical. Should I quit all of these activities because if I quit flag football, I won’t have exercise time? What should I do?
Sincerely,
Coca Cola
Dear Coca Cola,
You need to ask yourself, “What activities do I do that I could be doing my homework instead? Do I watch T.V. when I could be doing homework? Do I go on the computer while I could be doing my homework?” But, if you literally have absolutely no time to do your homework, then you need to look at these after school activities and figure out which one is the least important. When you figure out which one that is, you need to consider giving it up so you can do your homework. I know it stinks to have to give up doing something fun, but it is important that you get a good education.
Yours Truly,
Emma
Dear Emma,
I am so lost…I know that the group of people that I am hanging out with aren’t the best influences for me, they are definitely people I do not look up to…I need to find better friends, but I am a little shy…Please help me!
-Lost and Confused
Dear Lost and Confused,
What you need to do is look around at the other people around you and figure out who are the better influences. When you figure out whom they are go talk and interact with them. I know it seems hard to go up to people that you don’t normally hang out with, but if they are good influences, they’ll welcome you in with no questions asked. But if you find some people and they aren’t good influences, don’t be afraid to keep looking. Even though you’re looking for new friends doesn’t mean you have to loose the old ones. You never know, you might end up influencing them
Yours Truly,
Emma

Student Body Secretary
Angel Toscano
(Your Secretary)
By Anh-Thu Vo
Angel Toscano was voted as your student body secretary. She is twelve years old and she wasn’t exactly inspired to run for student council. Her parents suggested it. What Angel plans to change is the lunch here at Topaz Preparatory Academy.
Angel Toscano has run for student council before. She was in fifth grade, and she won the election for fifth grade secretary. She has really enjoyed Topaz this year. The best time of her life was on Halloween this year, however she is afraid of spider webs.
Angel wants to be a successful pediatrician when she grows up. Her favorite color is blue and her favorite music artist is Michael Jackson, the king of pop. Her favorite animal is a dog and her favorite amusement park is Six Flags California.
Angel Toscano has three siblings: a sister who is 10; a brother, 4; and another sister who just turned 1. Her hobby is playing softball. How Angel feels with some Tiger power is that she can fix many problems that others can’t.
8th Grade Representative
Naeomi Romero, 8th Grade Representative, is a Bouncing Bundle of Joy
By Tyler Garcia
Thirteen-year-old representative, Naeomi, gave some insight on her life. Ms. Romero said her main reason for entering the student council campaign was the extra "push" from Social Studies/Cultural Anthropology teacher, Mr. Canady. Mr. Canady's extra support helped Naeomi buckle up and run for representative for council.
"My old school didn't have student council, so this is new for me!” said Naeomi when asked if she had ran before.
Naeomi says the most music she listens to is at church when asked about her favorite music genre. Another favorite of the 8th grade representative is Six Flags Magic Mountain. It is her favorite amusement park. Ms. Romero says her favorite color is purple and her hobbies are taking pictures and laughing. When asked about what she enjoys most about Topaz Prep, Naeomi said, "I really like it here. I also like the uniforms 'cause it takes a lot of stress off kids, like, if their clothes are cool enough and stuff. The people are really nice, too!"
Naeomi Romero is looking forward to serving the students of Topaz Prep this year.
